We are big on messaging! We think messaging is what separates good social posts from great ones. When coherent messaging is left out, your results can be very similar to the results of some ads you have seen on other media.
Have you ever watched a TV commercial and laughed out loud but shortly after, not been able to remember the product?
Have you ever seen a beautiful magazine ad but when thinking back can’t remember what the point of it was other than beauty?
These and countless other marketing “misfires” occur when you forget to include your brand messaging. While it isn’t the end of the world, it will certainly slow down your momentum toward finding new customers. Customers need to understand our business and develop a level of trust before they commit.
That’s why we include a 3-2-1 plan in our app. The 3 stands for three messages.
We need three messages to focus on because otherwise we will spend all our time talking about our product, a “no-no” in social media. So we map out two other important messages that indirectly sell our product but directly help us build relationships and trust with our audience. Messages Two is about sharing the bigger picture: our product industry, with our audience. Message 3 is more personal: about our company and staff, what we stand for and how we can help customers.
At Small Biz Brands, we love helping businesses figure out their ideal three messages. Take a quick look. Go to your Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn pages and review your last two weeks of posts. Are all your three messages represented in your feed? If not, move that to the top of your list going forward. When you begin prepping for posting, focus on messages first. For now, you can get in the habit by trying to include one message per post, and trying to use all three messages each week.
