Choosing Two Key Platforms

Choosing Two Key Platforms

We always talk about the importance of quality over quantity. Choosing the right platforms is another example of this concept. It is easy to get overwhelmed with the number of platforms available to you. Further, it can be very time consuming to have a presence on numerous platforms. Start out by choosing just two platforms where you know your target audience hangs out. You can always post to more, but make sure your two primary platforms look great.

Ask Google

If in doubt, ask Google. You can query things like “Best social platform for young professionals.” Or “Which social platform is for women over 50”.

See Where Your Competitors Are

If your competitors are already using a platform, that is a strong indicator that this may be the platform for you, also.

Try It and See What Type of Response You Get

You can always try out a platform or maybe you already have. What kind of results are you getting? Are they improving over time?

Make a Choice

Factor in these three types of data and make a choice of two platforms. Once you do, be sure you have taken advantage of all the platforms have to offer. Fill in all their information requests, photo opportunities, etc. in what is usually known as the Profile section. Take a little extra time to tailor your posts somewhat for these platforms. Sometimes just using a different photo or changing a phrase here and there can make your post more suitable for a different platform’s emphasis. Put your best foot forward!
